The township is in the northeast part of Geauga County, about fifteen minutes from Chardon, Middlefield and Route 90. The Township was founded in 1812 with approximately twenty-five square miles of area and 15,534 acres.

There's a ridge in Montville that runs through the township from north to south, located around half a mile west of the township's center. The highest point of the ridge, referred to as the "Old Wintersteen place," sits at an elevation of 1333 feet above sea level or 761 feet above Lake Erie. It's one of three spots that are believed to be the second-highest point in Ohio. As you move westward from the ridge, the land gradually slopes down towards the Hambden line.

The same is true when moving towards the east. Streams on the southern half of the slope flow into the Cuyahoga River, while the northern point flows into the Grand River in Painesville.

First time having Congin’s pizza, and it was amazing! The sauce was really good and the crust was perfect. I will definitely be ordering from them again.
